First Round of Ecotown Consultations Come to a Close
17 September 2008
The first round of public consultations on the proposed ‘ecotown’ in Rushcliffe ended in Bingham on Thursday 6 September.
The Crown Estate and its partners have held a series of events throughout Rushcliffe borough over the summer, attracting nearly 1000 visitors interested in the proposed sustainable community.
The results of the roadshow are now being compiled for submission to the Department for Communities and Local Government and for further consultation with the local community.
Nick Harper, Head of Rural Asset Management and Development at the Crown Estate commented: “We are very pleased with the response to the initial consultation programme and we are now beginning to evaluate the questionnaire responses we have received.
”We will be publishing our findings later in the year and arranging a series of follow up meetings with the local community to discuss the next steps in the proposal.”
Six public consultations have been held throughout the summer in Bingham, Radcliffe on Trent, East Bridgford, Shelford and Newton, with visitors being able to discuss the proposed sustainable development with The Crown Estate and its partners.
As part of the process, visitors were asked to complete a questionnaire, asking for local views on the challenges and opportunities the development presents. The questionnaire is available to download at www.newtonecotown.com or by calling 0845 450 3210. The deadline for submission is Friday 19 September.
